- Help for 'Morse Tutor' Version 1.24
-
- by Steve Eyre © 1 March 1995
-
- Random morse code generator
-
- for all you budding radio hams out there.....
-
-
- RISOS 2/3 Compatibility
-
- The main program alters according to which operating system is present. The
- only part of the application which may not be RiscOS 2 compatible is the
- Template file, which uses 3D icons. If the templates and sprites are
- redesigned......
-
- Anyway.......
-
- Morse Tutor is fully multi-tasking, and attempts to keep to the Acorn
- program style guide. Run the application by double clicking on its icon.
-
- The program is largely self-explanatory, generating sixty seconds of
- morse code at a time, for comprehension practice, at speeds from 1 to
- about 20 words a minute.
-
- Apart from a slight lengthening under seven words a minute, the transmission
- speed of each character is kept constant, whatever operating system you are
- using. Essentially, the speed control only varies the interval between
- characters and words, as per RSGB guidelines. Only English numbers and
- characters are used.
-
- If you want foreign characters, punctuation, double dutch, (whatever turns
- you on....!) ....alter the Data statements at the end of the program.
-
- There's a morse code table help, and options to alter the pitch, volume,
- and speed of the transmission.
-
- Transmission content can be varied between random letters, random
- five-figure numbers or random words. The words are drawn from Data
- statements at the end of the program, which can be altered or added to
- at infinitum, as long as words are no longer than seven letters long, and
- the data statements end with a "*". Changing this option will only take
- effect from the start of the next transmission.
-
- There is also an option to have the data written on screen during or
- after each transmission.
-
- All the settings are savable, and reinstate on startup.
-
- Sound is generated using the default WaveSynth voice, which is fairly
- acceptable, though not ideal. You can alter this to any resident voice
- by changing the second parameter of the first ChannelVoice command in the
- !Run file. Of course there's nothing to stop you installing your own voice
- module!..... The final ChannelVoice command reinstates the WaveSynth voice
- on exit.
-
- The application is Public Domain, and can be freely copied, as long as
- it is an improvement on my feeble efforts, and the Help file is kept
- intact and unaltered.
-
- Happy tapping!
-
- The 'Start' and 'Help' icons are not in anti aliased fonts as it seems to
- confuse the font manager if these icons are held selected during a
- transmission. If anyone knows the reason why, I'd love to know!
-
- Hints or suggestions (helpful, that is....! ) to........
